Ensoulment is exquisitly espressed in the rock art of the northern Rio Grande.  In this class, we will explore these enigmatic figures and ponder the mysteries of the region's religious and secular practices leading up to the Spanish Colonial Period.

Cultures inscribe themselves on the landscape through the repetition of social practice and movement through space.  Cultural and natural landscapes in turn are a source of profound identity and meaning.  This projection of the human sense of soul and the archetypes contained therein is referred to as “ensoulment”

Physical Challenge: Moderate.  Some low-impact hiking is involved but most sites are located very close to the vehicles.  Hats, sunscreen, sunglasses and comfortable shoes are highly recommended
